POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Bisley yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened shortly after 5.40pm on the Calf Way close to Holbrook Garage/The Greenshop, between Bisley and The Camp.

A dark coloured BMW, which was travelling from Bisley, was waiting to turn right into the garage, while a blue Ford Focus driven by a 34-year-old man from Gloucester was waiting behind.

A third car, a silver Honda Civic being driven by a 35-year-old man from Gloucester, was travelling from Bisley towards The Camp.

The Honda Civic hit the nearside grass verge before overturning and coming to rest upside down and hitting the rear of the waiting Ford Focus.

The driver of the Honda Civic was trapped inside his vehicle but Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service were able to break him out.

The man sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries, and was taken by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital.

No-one else was injured as a result of the collision but traffic officers remianed on the scene for several hours after the incident.

Investigating officers would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the collision or who may have seen the Honda shortly before the collision.

The road remained closed until around 11pm whilst a specialist collision investigator from the Triforce collaboration conducted an examination of the scene.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police should call 101 and quote incident 420 of 4/7/17.
