A MOTHER from Nailsworth has regained her confidence after she lost four stone in just seven months.

Lesley Shallcross joined a local Slimming World group after being diagnosed with an underactive thyroid and high cholesterol last year.

Following more than half a year of hard work and subtle changes to her diet Lesley was able to hit her target weight.

“Initially I was mortified,” said Lesley. “My wonderful nurse was telling me I was so overweight that I needed a slimming club.

“I was blown away by the warm welcome from our consultant and the welcoming, relaxed feeling in the room.

“No one was having their weight read out, it was all discreet and supportive – for the first time I thought this is ok, I can do this”.

Losing 3.5 pounds in her first week gave Lesley the boost she needed to carry on, eating more than ever before but without the binges that came before.

The support of group each week was so important, celebrating everyone’s losses and motivating those who needed it.

“I was able to choose my own target weight which helped with my confidence and made sure there was no pressure,” said Lesley.

“I feel so much better in myself, no more tummy resting on my knees and the ability to move around the loft and garden shed with ease.

“I am no longer out of breath and have even taken up Zumba and kettlebells! I love shopping now having lost sizes – even in my shoes.”

Lesley is so grateful for the way she now feels that she wants to give the same hope she was offered to the people of Nailsworth by becoming a Slimming World consultant herself.

She is relaunching the group at the Arkell Community Centre every Monday at 5.30pm & 7.30pm on the July 10.
