THE Longfield Hospice has been crowned champion of the Stroud in Bloom shop window competition.
This year saw 12 entries into the Bees, bugs and butterflies themed event that is now in its 27th year.
It was a tightly run contest but impartial judges ruled that Longfield pipped Stroud Valleys Project by the closest of margin to claim victory in their first year of entering.
Lisa Hitchcock was the mastermind behind the winning display and she was delighted the hard work paid off.
“I am absolutely chuffed to bits,” said Lisa who spent days planning the display.
“After the all the hours put in by various volunteers I am just so happy we won.
“We have had a lot of people coming in the shop offering and offering to help and really getting behind the campaign.”
Lisa and other members of Longfield staff were presented with a certificate and trophy by Stroud in Bloom Chair, Doreen Frusher and treasurer, Sue Grant.
Despite being thrilled by victory Lisa is unsure if she will re-enter next year, perhaps giving someone else the chance to claim the popular title.
