TRAFFIC chaos continues in Stroud this morning.

A burst water main on Friday meant contractors had to dig a hole in the road to fix the problem, but have left roadworks all weekend.

The temporary lights put in place at the junctions with Beeches Green and Stratford Road are still causing problems.

There has been havoc on the roads all weekend with heavy congestion in the town on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

An angry motorist Randy Hogan, 30, said: “It took me an extra 20 minutes just to get from the Stroud college mini roundabout to the town centre this morning.

“Over the weekend, I saw lots of people who were heading towards town give up and do a U-turn and drive back the other way, which makes me think that businesses in the town centre could have lost trade.

“If all of this disruption is just because of one hole in the road, it’s a bit ridiculous. I can’t believe a whole weekend has passed without it being fixed. Could they not have worked during the night to sort it out?”

The A46 Merrywalks around the B4070 Gloucester Street is also incredibly busy and traffic on Cainscross Road is queuing back passed Marling School.
