Cor, after not writing last week and therefore not scanning the bookings as I would when preparing this weekly update, I have to say that we have an astonishingly rammed market ahead of us this Saturday. In fact it will be one of those weeks where I’m praying a couple of people cancel otherwise I have no idea how I’m going to fit everyone in!

It’s a good market for those looking to improve or alter their garden this week with Pat’s Plants in the square and Malcolm Allison both displaying a range of seasonal plants, whilst Herbs for Healing and Ascott Gardens are both present too. A recent shift in stall positions means that Herbs for Healing and Ascott Gardens are now positioned next to each other in front of the old disability shop. Ann and Davina are great characters and well worth having a chat with if you need advice or ideas as they both have a wealth of knowledge gleaned from years of experience.

At Herbs for Healing, Davina, who grew up in the famous gardens at Barnsley House, has developed a business dedicated to growing and supplying medicinal herbs and to spreading knowledge about these plants. She also makes and sells a variety of tinctures, creams and ointments using natures natural remedies. The herb garden is open to visitors and Davina is available to give talks and lead walks through the gardens.

At Ascott Gardens a 6.5 acre plot is filled with just about everything that one can imagine would grow in an English Country Garden; from fruits and vegetables to cut flowers and dried flowers, from plants for the garden to Ann’s eclectic ceramics the sheer variety and quality of the produce is stunning and always changing throughout the seasons.

Highlight of the week for me and pudding romantics everywhere this Saturday, has to be the news that The Cotswold Pudding Company, famed for their Sticky Puddings, are reintroducing an old favourite this weekend that hasn’t been seen for about 5 years; yes the legendary Banoffee Pies are making a return! Creamy, rich and not high on the healthy eating lists the banoffee is not to be missed.
