Students at Archway took on a sponsored walk to raise money for their partner school in Nepal, where the children live in poverty.
Archway School’s Year 7 pupils completed a sponsored walk on Friday, July 14 in aid of Shree Chandee Adarsha Saral Secondary School in Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Nepal.
The walk was from the school to Haresfield Beacon and back, 8,848 metres in total, which is the height of Everest.
They raised over £4,000 to support children in Nepal who are at risk of having to drop out of school to work or beg for a living.
Two years ago, when Nepal was hit by an earthquake that killed 9,000 and made many people homeless, Archway raised around £10,000 to help 50 of the most vulnerable students.
The money was used to support the children through two years of education, paying for books, clothes, uniform, stationary, school lunch and transport, as well as helping homeless children pay rent.
Since the money is now running out, Archway’s aim was to raise £5,000 to carry on supporting the 50 children for another year.
