A BURST water main in Stroud has caused residents to lose water supply in the GL5 area.

Part of Slad Road is closed between the junction for Lansdown Road and Libby’s Drive.

Gloucestershire police said: "We were called shortly after 8.50am today (July 24) to reports of a water leak on Slad Road, Stroud.

"The road has been closed and Severn Trent have been called to attend."

A representative from Severn Trent water said: “This morning we’ve discovered a burst water pipe on Slad Road in Stroud which may be causing water supplies to be off or at low pressure for some of our customers in the GL5 area.

“Our teams are out on site now and will work hard to get this pipe fixed and everything back to normal as quickly as possible.

“Most of our customers should now start seeing their water supply return as we've moved water around our network.

“However, there are still a few properties affected whilst we continue to repair the burst water pipe.

“We know how difficult it is to have no water and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this may be causing.

“We’d like to reassure our customers that we’re doing everything we can to get the water supplies back on as soon as we can.”

Severn Trent has said that they will update their website with updates as well as their twitter page @stwater.
