Police have warned children and parents across Gloucestershire to be wary after a third incident of men trying to lure girls into a van in less than a week.

The latest incident happened on Dancers Hill in Abbeymead at about 8pm on Saturday, July 22 when a noisy blue van pulled alongside a 13-year-old girl and one of the occupants tried to get her into the vehicle.

The girl ran off down an alley so that the van could not follow her. She was not injured.

The man is described as wearing a black jacket and a black mask on his face through which his brown eyes could be seen.

This follows two similar incidents on Tuesday last week, July 18.

The first was at about 3.50pm when a blue Transit type van pulled up alongside two girls near Barnwood Park Arts College and offered them a lift. The girls refused and the van headed off in the Abbeymead direction.

The second incident happened at about 4.20pm when a girl reported that a Transit type van had approached her on Norbury Avenue, Matson and the driver asked if she wanted to get in. She also refused and walked off.

A police spokeswoman said: "Officers have repeated their advice to parents to speak to their children reminding them to be vigilant and report any incidents of being approached by strangers.

"Local schools in the area have been alerted and reassurance patrols by uniformed officers are taking place."

If you have seen this van or have any information that can help police with their enquiries please call 101 quoting incident number 181 of 22/7/17.
