THE landlady of a Uley pub is planning to celebrate her 50th birthday in style after scooping £2,000 in a charity lottery.

Mary Gwyer, who runs the Old Crown with her husband Ben, is now organising a family holiday to Florida to mark a number of milestone birthdays next year.

“We have four significant birthdays next year,” she said. “I turn 50 and then our three boys turn 16, 18 and 21.

“We’ve been talking about a holiday to Florida and now we can do just that.”

Mary signed up to the lottery, which supports the work of Longfield hospice, about 18 months ago.

“Longfield is a place where we have had friends go, including our dear friend Linda Woodman, so we are more than happy to support such a good cause,” added Mary.

Lottery tickets cost £1 each and are available online at crackerjackpot.co.uk/longfield or through Longfield’s charity shops.

By playing Crackerjackpot, 60p of every £1 of the funds raised from membership is given directly to Longfield, which provides specialist services for people living with a life-limiting illness in Gloucestershire.
