A SUGAR lorry has had a bittersweet ending as it became lodged between two houses in Nailsworth for more than two hours.
The accident occurred at 12.55pm down from the junction between Butcher Hill’s Lane, Old Bristol Road and Bath Road.
After releasing all the air from its tyres the vehicle was finally freed at 3.30pm.
A police spokesman said: "We were called just before 12.55pm today to reports that a lorry had crashed into a house.
"There are no injuries but the caller said the lorry was stuck between two houses."
The lorry was thought to be carrying sugar, people on the scene let the air out of the vehicle's tyres after which the vehicle was low enough to ease through the gap.
Damage caused to the houses as a result of the incident, with drain pipes and guttering at the top of one home knocked loose, along with damaged bricks.
The driver is thought to have been new to the area, driving from Avonmouth, and had been following the instructions of his sat-nav.
