THE organisers of Stroud raft race, which is set to return for a second year, are urging more people to sign up and get involved.

Luciano and Sarah Magalotti decided last year to bring back the tradition which stems back to 1985, as a way of enjoying the Stroudwater Navigation.

Last year’s event saw great ingenuity and enthusiasm from all participants when it came to designing and building the rafts, as well as fantastic support on the water from Stroud Valley Canoe Club.

Businesses provided sponsorship and raffle prizes, and a great day was had by all.

All entrants this year will be raising money for the Cotswold Canals Trust and The Door youth project.

This year’s event has been postponed until September and an official date will be set by the end of the week.

It was due to take place the same weekend as Stroud Fringe but it has been postponed to give participants more time to sign up.

Raffle tickets are on sale with prizes starting from £250.
