FOREST GREEN boss Mark Cooper took a large intake of breath after seeing his side gain their first three-point haul in the Football League.

“I think my blood pressure is sky high after that,” said a clearly relieved Cooper. “It was a dramatic afternoon.”

Trailing 2-0 and 3-1, Cooper’s dogged side refused to be beaten and strikes from Christian Doidge, Reece Brown and Charlie Cooper evened the game up before Omar Bugiel came off the bench to nod in the winner.

Cooper added: “We will pull the performance apart and look at some of the defending, which was horrendous.”

Despite the kamikaze first-half defending, Cooper cut his players some slack and felt his side could win the game even when they found themselves trailing 3-1.

“Credit to the players because they refused to give in and have shown courage, character and commitment to the club and kept at it.

“I think my blood pressure is sky high after that”

“I always knew we had goals in us and believed we could win the game. I said to Scott Lindsey at 2-0 that we could still win the game, because we could get at Yeovil in an attacking sense, which we did.”

Cooper felt Brown’s rocket just before the break proved pivotal.

He said: “The free-kick from Brownie right on half-time is a real big event because it turns everything around as they go in at 3-1 with a bit of breathing space, but instead the game is set at 3-2 with a bit of brilliance and we have the ascendancy.”

Rovers are up and running and Cooper was delighted to see his side obtain their maiden victory at League Two level.

“That’s the first three points for the club in the Football League, so this is an historic day,” beamed Cooper. “The fans were fantastic today and got behind us even when we were behind and spurred the boys on to a victory.”
