THE INDOOR pool at Stratford Park Leisure Centre will be reopened after a temporary closure yesterday.

A spokesman at Stroud District Council has said that the closure was very short and that the pool will be reopened today.

It is believed that the maintenance work could have been to replace a pump, but the parts will be replaced and should reopen imminently.

In a post on social media yesterday afternoon, centre management at the leisure centre said: “Due to unforeseen maintenance issues the indoor swimming pool will be closed until further notice.

“Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.”

However today, Everyone Active's contract manager, Jamie Nesbit, said: “I can confirm that the pool at Stratford Park Leisure Centre is temporarily closed, due to a mechanical fault.

"We hope to have the issue resolved this morning (Wednesday, August 23), allowing for the pool to reopen in the afternoon.

"We will, however, keep members and visitors updated on the situation via our centre social media pages.

“We have notified all customers that will be affected by the closure and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

An update on the leisure centre's facebook page reads: "We will keep members and visitors updated via our social media pages, should any further cancellations take place to classes/pool bookings members will receive notification by text or phone call."
