EMERGENCY services have been called to a fire at High Street Chippy in Stroud.
Two fire crews were called to the scene at 10.51pm after a fire broke out in the basement of High Street Chippy & Peri Peri Grill.
Members of the fire service used two hoses along with breathing apparatus to subdue the blaze which started in an extraction unit.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
An area around the chip shop was cordoned off until 11.45pm while members of the fire and police service contained the fire and officers controlled foot traffic in the area.
Stroud town centre remains extremely busy while this evening's Stroud Fringe events come to a close.
