GLOUCESTERSHIRE Environmental Trust has given Bussage Village Hall a grant of £12,000 for new flooring.

The hall is used by all age groups from Bussage and Brownshill, providing a base for playgroup, dance and exercise classes, Brownies, and Art Club.

Sally Spray, member of the Village Hall Committee, said: "Bussage Village Hall is delighted to have received this grant for new flooring.

"This work will enhance the building for all the users and enable the longevity of this vital community building.

“This grant has allowed us to purchase and install a high-quality floor, that we would have struggled to fund ourselves, if the floor wasn’t replaced soon, the hall might have faced closure.

"We’re sure the improvements will be appreciated by all our regular users and people looking to book for one off occasions.

"Our beautiful new floor, enclosed garden, stage and fully fitted kitchen make it a wonderful venue for local groups and events.

“Thanks to The Gloucestershire Environmental Trust we can continue to make Bussage Village Hall a focal point for the community for generations to come.”

The hall funds contributed £8,000 towards the project, the rest being supplied by the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust.

Bussage Village Hall was given to the local community in 1926, ‘to provide for the education and mental improvement recreation and general benefit of the inhabitants of the Ecclesiastical Parish of Bussage and the Hamlets of Brownshill and Toadsmoor in the County of Gloucester.’

Over the last 12 months, almost £1.5 million has been awarded to community projects in Gloucestershire by the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust.
