THERE has been a sharp rise in the number of new homes starting to be built.
The latest figures from the Department of Communities and Local Government show that work starting on new properties is at its highest level since 2008.
In the 12 months leading to June this year, work had started on 164,960 homes, an increase of 13 per cent since the previous year and a 75 per cent rise since 2009.
