STROUD finished the season in second.

Will Golding’s side posted their fourth consecutive win on the spin at Cheltenham Civil Service Openers Tom Horrell and Adam Jones failed to get off to the perfect start - Jones losing his wicket for one run.

Overseas recruit Dom Thompson joined Horrell and both batsman took the attack to Civil Service, with Horrell bringing up his half-century by hitting one of the biggest sixes seen at Civil Service, before falling for 57.

Chris Job partnered Thompson, who fell for a very well made 30.

Club stalwart Luke Benneyworth joined Job and the pair played magnificently and ran the Civil Service fielders ragged in a very entertaining partnership.

Job fell for 41 and Benneyworth 54, which brought the evergreen Paul Frape to the crease, who timed the ball from his first delivery to make a rapid 41.

All other batsman then chipped in to leave Stroud 276 for nine after their 50 overs.

In reply, Civil Service started slowly and never really gave themselves a chance of winning.

Openers Golding and James Job bowled well limiting Civil Service to just two runs per over for the first 10 overs, one-wicket down, which was taken by leading wicket taker Job.

Chris Job then entered the attack and bowled extremely well to finish with one for 32 from his 10.

Sam Hewitt and Frape continued the good bowling with Frape capturing two victims.

Gavin Dean and Horrell followed, with Dean bagging four, as Civil Service crashed to 212 all out.
