A MARATHON runner from Bristol has teamed up with the restaurant at Egypt Mill in Nailsworth to raise money for Leonard Cheshire Disability charity.

Grant Savides, 41, is running multiple marathons and half marathons in aid of the disability charity and is aiming to raise more than £3,000.

Egypt Mill is a client of Grant’s as he is an account manager for a wholesale butchers in Bristol.

Management at the restaurant is donating £1 from every sale of a special well-aged rump steak to Grant’s fundraising efforts.

Grant said: “I was talking to the head chef Simon about my fundraising efforts and goals.

“Later that evening he sent me a text saying that he is going to put a special on his menu and do his best to contribute to this fantastic charity.

“I feel blessed that the general manager Rob and chef Simon would support both my efforts and the great work LCD do in many of our communities around the UK.

“Thank you Rob and Simon.”

Leonard Cheshire Disability is a charity that supports disabled people to develop skills through employment, volunteering and digital inclusion projects.

Grant said: “These fabulous people chose to live their lives to the fullest and want to live as normal life as they can.

“The volunteers are also inspirational super beings and my charitable contribution is nothing compared to what these guys contribute.”

Grant will run the Great Bristol Half Marathon on tomorrow and will run the Bournemouth Marathon on October 8 as well as the Bath Half Marathon and the London Marathon next year.
