A 48-YEAR-OLD woman has been ordered to keep her two dogs under proper control or risk their destruction.

Two Rhodesian Ridgebacks belonging to Kathy Andrews of Watledge Road, Nailworth bit two other dogs and a cat in March, Cheltenham Magistrates' Court heard.

Andrews admitted three offences which occurred at Box Wood, Minchinhampton on March 19, 22 and 23.

The court ordered that the two dogs be muzzled and kept on leads in public places and not walked by any person under the age of 18.

Andrews was fined £300.

Stroud District Council’s animal welfare officer Josie Oak attended the hearing.

“We receive calls on an almost daily basis about dogs attacking other animals though incidents are easily preventable if owners walk their dogs on a lead," she said.

"In this case the owner should have acted responsibly after the first incident and ensured that her dogs were kept under control.

"She failed to do this, resulting in two further attacks.

"We therefore acted swiftly to make sure no other animals could be harmed.”
