‘UNWAVERING passion and determination’ have seen a primary school in Cashes Green rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

Cashes Green Primary School, which was inspected in June, has now been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted due to the unwavering passion and determination from the head teacher, leaders and governors to raise the standards that pupils achieve.

The school, which has 183 pupils, was rated ‘Good’ across five of the six assessment categories, with an ‘Outstanding rating in personal development, behaviour and welfare.

Head teacher Meg Dawson (pictured below) says that this rating is down to the hard work and constant support of the teaching staff and all who work at the school, as well as the pupils.

“We are extremely proud of our recent Ofsted report which highlighted our inclusive ethos and the importance we place on the personal development and wellbeing of our children,” she said.

“As head, I am thankful to be working with such a dedicated and hardworking team, supportive parents and wonderful children.

“This is absolutely a reward for cross-school effort – staff, governors, parents and children – we all work together and care for each other.

“We are always looking to the future and ways of improving (as all schools should be) building on our current successes.”

Stroud News and Journal:

Lead Ofsted inspector Sarah O’Donnell wrote in the inspection report about the dedication of the head teacher, teachers and staff.

“The head teacher’s and leaders’ deep commitment to improving standards and outcomes for pupils shines through all that they do,” it stated.

“The head teacher’s passion and drive to improve the education and life chances of all pupils are evident in all her actions.

“Teachers, and other staff, are given opportunities to develop their work through the training opportunities and support the school offers.

“This includes regular visits to other schools and opportunities for teachers and leaders in this school to share their good practice more widely.”

Meanwhile, the report did state that there was room for improvement in some areas.

This includes improving the consistency of good handwriting and spelling for all pupils and identify the needs of the most able learners – particularly in maths and science.

However, in the area in which the school was rated outstanding - personal development and welfare - the inspectors stated: “The school’s work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare is outstanding.

“Pupils are confident and self-assured learners.

“Their attitudes to learning, such as their resilience and perseverance, have a strong impact on the progress they make.

“Pupils take great pride in themselves, their work and their school.”
