Forest Green Rovers defender Mark Roberts returns to his old stomping ground tonight.

Just four days on from Friday night’s defeat to Swindon Town at the New Lawn, Mark Cooper and his side travel to Cambridge United in search of an important win.

However, he concedes it will only be a happy reunion should he and his teammates leave with all three points in the bag.

“There’s a few former clubs in this league now for me and I look forward to going back and seeing some faces that I got to know over the last couple of seasons,” he told FGR Media.

“I’m a Forest Green player and I am fully focused on winning the game for us and that’s the only way I will enjoy returning there.”

Despite the disappointment of Friday’s result in front of a packed home crowd, Roberts admits there is no time to feel despondent with another game coming so quickly.

“A win anywhere would be good at the moment and we are quite fortunate we have so many games coming up,” he added.

“We take that hurt home with us and we roll our sleeves up and go again.

“There are a lot of lessons at the moment and unfortunately some painful ones.

“As experienced players in the dressing room, we have got to rally around each other and make sure that togetherness doesn’t disappear.

“It’s times like this that you find out about yourself.

“It’s a long season and things can change around quickly and that is what we have got to be focused on.

“We don’t want to continue this run.

“There are a lot of disappointed players and we all hate losing and we want that winning feeling back at the football club.

“It’s a football club that is used to winning and it’s important that we keep up that winning momentum that was built up over the last couple of seasons.”
