MEMBERS of the Chalford Baptist Church have collected items for refugees in the Middle East for a third consecutive year.

A total of 150 boxes of new and used clothing, care packs, incontinence pads, wellington boots and shoes were donated along with 29 dignity bags for women, a pair of crutches, two wheelchairs, seven baby travelling cots and seven Moses baskets.

The church was collecting for Samara’s Aid Appeal which distributes medical and humanitarian aid for displaced people and refugees in the Middle East.

“Thanks go to Minchinhampton Baptist Church for a donation of £1,000 which enabled us to buy warm winter clothing from Millets.

“We would also like to thank Millets for their discount which enabled the money to stretch further, Shugon Bags and Leather Goods of East Sussex who provided the backpack Dignity Bags at cost price, and the van hire firm 1st Call for their discount.”

Over 80 articulated lorries and containers have now been sent out to Syria and other areas in the region. Each of the containers and lorries contain clothing for 6,000 people.
