Hartpury student Scott Webb powered his way to four Championship medals recently at an event in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Webb, 20, a Sports Conditioning and Injury Management degree student at University Centre Hartpury scooped three golds and silver in the 83kg class. His gold medals came in the squat, deadlift and having the biggest overall total in in his weight class.

Scott qualified for the Championships after being ranked number one in his weight class for Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Scott said: “Winning felt unbelievable. When you've had a goal and worked towards it for so long, to finally achieve it on the day is the best feeling.”

Hartpury’s Athletic Performance Manager Owen Satterly and Ben Drury, his course lecturer, have supported the strength and conditioning student with his training. The 20-year-old is also learning on the job. He’s in the middle of a strength and conditioning internship at Hartpury as part of his degree.

Being at the University Centre has meant that Scott has had advice from Ben on his training programme, as well as access to Hartpury’s power gym.

Following his successful championships, his next goals are to achieve a 700kg total and aim to make the European and World squads. Scott is also keen to retain his title at the 2019 Commonwealth Championships in Canada.
