THERE will be a festive feel in Stroud this year as free Christmas trees are being given to businesses in the town centre.

Every year the town council gives trees to business owners to put outside their doors and this year will be no different.

The council has even promised to provide lights and replacement batteries to help decorate the trees.

Shop keepers in the main streets and Cornhill area are being asked to apply quickly as the trees will be given out on a first come, first served basis.

The town council is aiming to make Stroud look its best for Christmas shoppers and attract the crowds.

Trees will be supplied by Jon Whittaker of Colors. A £10 charge is required for Jon to deliver and install each tree and then remove it at the end of the season.

Replacement batteries for existing lights cost £12.50, new battery/mains lights cost £17.50, but people are welcome to use their own lights.

Anyone wishing to apply should email council@stroudtown.gov.uk by Monday October 30 with the following information.

The business address, a contact number or email address, the number of trees requested and if any lights or replacement batteries are needed.
