PUPILS at Park Junior School in Stonehouse planted 200 trees earlier this week with the help of a local healthcare business.
The Year 3 pupils helped plant the trees in the school grounds, while learning how they reduce carbon emissions and tackle climate change.
Headteacher Richard Gasser was delighted with the project.
“It was a super afternoon of planting at school,” said Mr Gasser.
“Sixty of our children dug, planted and backfilled their way through 200 trees to develop the grounds, support wildlife and of course improve the air quality at school.”
Once the trees have grown they will form a hedgerow, providing a new habitat for local wildlife.
Members of Wellspect HealthCare joined the children as part of company’s commitment to the local environment, sustainability and education.
Wellspect’s Senior Brand Manager Seema Duggal believed the tree planting went very well.
She said: “Wellspect HealthCare are absolutely thrilled to have be involved in this project with Park Junior School.
“We are based in Stonehouse and are delighted to be giving something back to the local community. “We take our environmental responsibility seriously and are committed to protecting our planet for a sustainable future.”
