CROWDS gathered across the district today as thousands of people took part in the 36th Stroud Half Marathon.
Blustery conditions failed to stop people’s enthusiasm, as runners turned out to raise money for charity.
The 13 mile route began near Cainscross roundabout, adjacent to Marling School playing fields, at 9am.
Runners then followed the route through Stonehouse, Standish and right over to Whitminster before looping back round towards Stroud.
Exhausted and happy participants received their medals after crossing the finish line back in Cainscross Road.
The winner was Philip Bridge of Wells City Harriers finishing in a time of 01:09:43.
Last year’s winner David Bell of Cirencester Athletic Club finished second in 01:10:05 and Alastair Cambell of Stroud and District Athletic Club came third in 01:11:37.
Shona Crombie-Hicks of Cheltenham & County Harriers was the fastest female in a time of 01:23:10.
