STONEHOUSE TOWN 2

RUARDEAN HILL RANGERS 1

NEW Stonehouse Town manager Ian Soule got off to a winning start with a victory over Ruardean Hill Rangers.

Soule replaces Alex Lumsden at Oldends Lane, who stepped down this month due to work and football coaching commitments. The 23-year-old led the Magpies to third last season.

Soule watched his new side dominate the first-half as new signing from Shortwood United, Lewis Fogg, played a pivotal part. Fogg saw an early strike hit the bar and then his shot across the goal earned a corner which saw Barny Jones score a wind-assisted opener.

Adam Ireland put the Magpies 2-0 up on 32 minutes when he converted  from the penalty spot after being upended.

Andy Maryon and Lee Keveren came close to adding to the score and Keveren hit the bar after the break.

Ruardean pulled a goal back late in the game through captain Luke Brown.

Next up: Saturday, October 28 - Henbury v Stonehouse (2pm).
