PLANS are underway for an under the sea-themed Goodwill Evening in Stroud which will take place on Friday, December 1.

The popular event, which attracts visitors from all over the district, will include the traditional procession of colourful lanterns made by children, starting at the Sub Rooms forecourt at 6pm.

Aside from the usual lantern making workshops that take place in the run-up to the evening, this year schools will be offered the opportunity to work with an artist for a small fee.

Teachers can also request free materials to make lanterns with their pupils.

Rachel Pegler, the artist behind the distinctive annual event’s poster, will be holding an exhibition showing 10 years of designs at the Old Town Hall.

Stroud Goodwill Evening updates can be found at www.facebook.com/StroudGoodwillEvening Schools which would like to produce lanterns for the procession should contact Lis Parker on 0775 405 9768 or via email on astrolis@btinternet.com.

The SNJ will include a full guide to the event.
