CHILDREN at Bisley Blue Coat Primary School were joined by special guest Nell Gifford of Giffords Circus for the opening of their new outdoor learning and play area.

Children, parents and teachers dressed in circus themed costumes to honour Nell’s attendance.

The new outdoor space area incorporates two outdoor classrooms for use by children from reception through to Year 4.

There is also an outdoor play space for use by all children, which is designed for imaginative play and includes a storytelling chair, grass cube seating, a stage and den making area.

A successful bid for funding to Gloucestershire County Council allowed for the structural development of the outdoor classrooms, as well as a grant from Big Lottery Awards for All.

The school paused to remember a past pupil, parent and friend of the school, Lyn Hemming, who made an additional donation to help completely project.

Head Lisa Austin said: "Lyn’s generous gesture was used to furnish the area with items that transform the space into a fun place for the children to play and learn.”

The school also hosts Bisley Pre-School Playgroup and an after school club that welcomes children from its partner school at Oakridge.

Children from all three can enjoy the outdoor areas.
