THREE deaths in the past week, including one in Stroud, may be linked to drugs.

Now Gloucestershire police are warning users to beware in case there is something dreadfully wrong with some drugs being sold in the area.

The deaths were reported on Tuesday, November 14; Wednesday, November 15 and Thursday, November 16 in Churchdown, Gloucester and Stroud respectively, and have all been reported to the coroner.

It is not known if there is any link between the deaths or whether the same drug was involved.

Toxicology tests are being carried out but the results are not expected for a number of weeks.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Ocone said: "At this stage we are uncertain if these deaths are linked to the same type of drug or not, but we are investigating that possibility along with the issue of whether there is anything unusual about that drug.

"Whilst we do not condone the use of drugs, we do have a responsibility to protect everyone in our community and to make them aware of any risks posed to them.

"We would, therefore, advise all drug users to be extra careful and be mindful of the three recent deaths."

Anyone with concerns or information about drugs should call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101 or email 101@gloucestershire.police.uk
