A FRIEND of King’s Stanley Baptist Church is appealing for the local to find a use for the redundant building.

The church is a Georgian style building from the Regency period in 1824, but has been without use since the congregation moved to King’s Stanley Village Hall in 2011.

William Henley who lives next door to the church believes the old building provides a wonderful community space and could be put to better use.

“I hope that someone out there might see the potential of the building for their activities and as a benefit of the local community,” said William.

“It would be very sad to lose public access to such a beautiful and historic part of the environment.”

The church, which is a Grade 2 listed building, is currently on the market with Perry Bishop based in Cirencester.

There is plenty of space in the chapel interior, with a kitchen, modern toilets, a basement and attached school rooms which are in good condition.

An agent at Perry Bishop believes that the church will be very hard to convert and as stated that community uses are often found for redundant churches.

William, who doesn’t want to see a fantastic building go to waste, is hoping that different events could be held at the church.

“Initially the school room might be used for activities, meetings, social events and celebrations to raise funds to carry out the required maintenance on the chapel floor and balcony,” he said.

“I know the church has previously been used very successfully for concerts and presentations.

“How can we keep this building in use for the benefit of our rapidly growing community?”
