AFTER two days of travel disruption following heavy rain, snow and ice, the county is bracing itself for a night colder than current temperatures in Moscow.

Temperatures around the county will differ, with temperatures in Stroud feeling like minus nine degrees by 8pm this evening, but everywhere in the county will reach sub-freezing at some point during the night.

At around midnight tonight those venturing outdoors will encounter a chill of minus two degrees in Dursley and Wotton under Edge will hit minus five degrees by 7pm this evening.

Further north in the county Cirencester will feel the chill by 9pm, the town's inhabitants should brace themselves for temperatures which will feel like minus two degrees.

In contrast Tewkesbury will reach a comparatively warm minus one degrees at around 10pm this evening.

Police are warning motorists to take extra care on the roads as icy conditions are making driving hazardous.

Over the course of today Gloucestershire Constabulary received a number of reports of collisions which are believed to have been caused by ice on the road.

Motorists are advised to allow more time for their journeys and travel only if essential.

By morning it will feel warmer throughout Gloucestershire with rain forecast across the county, and temperatures hitting six degrees celsius by mid-morning.
