DESPITE multiple sightings and hundreds of volunteers joining the search, Roxy the deaf terrier from Nympsfield is still missing.

Roxy and her canine companion went missing from their owner’s garden on Christmas Eve, sparking a social media campaign that has so far reached hundreds of thousands of concerned animal lovers.

Monty, the black cocker spaniel was eventually found, skinny and scared, a week after he went missing, but the other dog, a scruffy old golden terrier is still missing a month after she first escaped.

Jo Dalton, who has searched the countryside around Uley, Woodchester Park, Coaley Peak and many of the surrounding areas every day for the last month is determined not to give up until Roxy is back home.

“Monty was found by a member of the public very thin and scared some weeks ago, but we haven’t been able to catch Roxy, despite her being spotted many times,” Jo said.

“There are days when we feel like we can’t carry on, but the thought of her out there scared and weak spurs us on, we won’t give up until we get her home,” she pledged.

In the last week Jo has followed up several confirmed sightings of Roxy in the Uley area with searches using goggles and aerial drones specially adapted for night searches, but to no avail.

Special tracker dogs have also travelled to the area from Kent to help, but despite picking up on Roxy’s scent and following her for several miles they were unable to locate her.

Now, as Roxy has been missing without food or shelter for nearly a month, Jo is appealing to residents to check sheds, gardens and out buildings every day, as she believes that the terrier is more likely to seek shelter the weaker she gets.

Anyone who thinks they might have spotted Roxy should make a note of the location and phone 07548 233507 or 07900 502089 as soon as they are able to do so.

“We’ve missed out Roxy a couple of times because people have tried to approach her, or waited a while to contact us, so we’re asking everyone to pop the phone numbers in the in their phone and give us a call, whatever time of day or night, if they think they’ve seen her,” Jo said.

A Facebook group is being used to coordinate daily searches for Roxy Missing Dogs: Monty and Roxy GL10, and volunteers can also download posters and flyers to help raise awareness about the missing terrier too.

The Just Giving page set up to help with the family’s mounting costs justgiving.com/crowdfunding/letsgetourroxyhomesafe has raised over £1,000 at the time of writing.
