ACCLAIMED Stroud musician Hattie Briggs will be supporting Blue Rose Code, the musician awarded 'Scottish Album of the Year' at the Subscription Rooms on Burns Night.
Edinburgh born Ross Wilson, was awarded the accolade of best album last year by Skinny Magazine, will be bringing his 'rare display of soul and emotion' to the town for the popular Scottish celebration on Thursday.
Blue Rose Code is described as "slippery as an eel; a mess of influences and contradictions, a rare display of soul and emotion will not be boxed," by Spiral Earth.
A nomad both geographically and musically, Ross writes from the heart, eschewing any specific genre.
The twelve songs on new album The Water of Leith, address themes of love, loss, travel, home, accepting the past and embracing the future.
His songs are meticulously painted with colours of folk, jazz, soul and pop; an eclecticism that has become a hallmark of Blue Rose Code and has seen him compared to John Martyn, Van Morrison and Tom Waits.
“Imagine John Martyn meets a young Van Morrison shipwrecked with a crate of Chet Baker records," said TimeOut magazine.

Ross will be joined by critically-acclaimed Stroud musician Hattie Briggs.
Hattie, who can be regularly heard on BBC Radios one, two, and 6Music, has spent the last few years touring internationally.
She recently supported chart topping duo, Ward Thomas, at the O2 London’s Brooklyn Bowl.
Her crystalline vocals, and insightful lyrics resonate across all ages, rekindling old memories and capturing imaginations.
Combined with catchy melody lines and a cheeky, charismatic stage presence, it's unsurprising the youngster is seriously impressing industry figures and fans alike.
Blue Rose Code will be supported by Hattie Briggs this Thursday January, 25 at the Subscription Rooms, Stroud.
