DRAMA students barely stopped to draw breath for a monster danceathon during rehearsals for their next production in Thornbury.

The members of the Northavon School of Drama, who perform under the banner of Northavon Youth Theatre Company followed up rehearsals for the Easter production of Les Misérables with the two-and-a-half-hour sponsored event.

Devised and led by choreographer Danielle Shadbolt and assisted by fellow choreographer Ella Manley, 45 youngsters danced their way through six genres including salsa, rock’n’roll, ballet, line, modern and musicals.

While having plenty of fun, the students were delighted to learn they had raised £550, which will go towards the cost of the production, expected to cost around £20,000.

The Students, aged 11 to 18, have already raised £850 packing bags at Asda in Cribbs Causeway and are planning another session there on Friday, February 23, as well as baking and selling cupcakes and organising a musical theatre quiz night in March.

The group are also part of the Tesco Bags of Help scheme in the Thornbury store.

The show will take place at the Armstrong Hall in Thornbury from March 27-31, 7.30pm nightly.

Tickets are available at nytc.org.uk, by calling 07980543691, or from Cadman Wealth Planning Ltd, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday next week, from 10am to 1pm.
