ANOTHER park in Cainscross has been targeted by arsonists less than a year after another attack at a playground nearby.

It is believed that the fire was started in Victory Park, Cainscross at around 4.30pm on Tuesday.

Trees between and the play area and the bowling green canopy were 'totally destroyed' by flames.

Victory Park is an open space situated in the parish of Cainscross, Stroud.

Local residents can enjoy numerous amenities there including a children’s play area, a basket ball hoop and dirt bike ramps along with two thriving sports pavilions.

Situated on the edge of the park is Victory Park Bowls Club, originally formed in 1919.

A statement on Cainscross Parish Council Facebook page said: "We have once again been the victim of an arson attack.

"The trees between the play area and the bowling green were totally destroyed by fire.

"This has also caused huge upset for the bowls club whose outside canopy area was also badly damaged."

Less than a year ago another play area in the parish was the target of suspected arson, causing an estimated £12,000 worth of damage.
