SEVERNSIDE Tritons continued with their medal haul at the Gloucester County Swimming Championships last weekend (Saturday 10 and Sunday 11), with a total of 28 top three finishes, including four golds, 15 silvers and nine bronzes.

Saturday kicked off with the boys 50m freestyle, and first and second for Jake Garett and Zac Cooper in the 11 age group, who were joined in the final by fellow Triton Noah de N’Yeurt in eighth place, having achieved a fantastic personal best in the qualifiers by three seconds.

There were two silvers in the girls 100 freestyle for Caitlin Roberts (11) and Chloe Barnard (12), with other placings in the finals for Rebecca McCoubrie (11) who came sixth, Zoe Cooper (13) eighth and Jess Part (15) sixth.

Jake Garett and Zac Cooper again took the top two places in the boys 200m backstroke 11 age group, and this time Zac taking gold and Jake silver.

Ethan Courts continued his strong championships with a bronze in the 13 age group.

The Tritons had a wealth of finalists in the girls 200m butterfly with silvers for Kacey Pritchard (12), Jess Part (15) and Nat Walsh (17).

There were also top eight final positions for Rachel Shutt (14) fourth, Zoe Walsh (14) sixth, Charlotte Nichols (15) fourth and Caitlin Lynam (17) seventh.

Although there were no medals in the boys 400m individual medley, both Lucas Tompkins (14) and Alfie Shaw (14) swam well with notable personal bests.

Severnside claimed further medals in the girls 50m backstroke with bronze for Caitlin Roberts (11) and silver for Chloe Barnard (12) plus two eighth places for Rachel Shutt and Jess Part.

The final sessions of the Saturday came to a close with a bronze for Jake Garett (11) in the boys 100m breaststroke, with Zac Cooper (11) gaining and eighth, and Ethan Courts (13) seventh and Dan Barnard (14) eighth, before the final event of the day seeing Nat Walsh (17) win bronze in the women’s 200m butterfly and Jess Part (15) claiming sixth.

Sunday’s events opened with a silver and bronze for Caitlin Lynam (17) and Lauren Shaw (15) respectively in the girls 50m breaststroke, with Caitlin Roberts (11) narrowly missing out in fourth, and Rachel Shutt (14) and Charlotte Frost (16) finishing eighth.

Silver and bronze soon followed in the boys 100m butterfly for Zac Cooper (11) and Ethan Courts (13), and a strong Tritons presence in the final of the 14 year age group with Lucas Tompkins (14) in fifth, Dylan Brain (14) in seventh and Alfie Shaw (14) in eighth.

Tritons’ third gold of the weekend came in the shape of Caitlin Roberts (11) in the girls 200m backstroke, with Evie O’Connell (11) coming sixth.

The same event saw silver for Chloe Barnard (12) fourth for Kacey Pritchard (12), fifth for Zoe Cooper (13), bronze for Rachel Shutt (14) and seventh for Jess Part (15).

Zac Cooper (11) swam to silver in the boys 200m butterfly and was joined in the medals by Ethan Courts (13) who came third, with Lucas Tompkins (14) and Dylan Brian (14) coming fourth and sixth respectively.

The penultimate event of the weekend was the girls 400 individual medley.

The Tritons won silver and bronze through Chloe Barnard (12) and Kacey Pritchard (12). Alice Hayward (13) did well to reach the final finishing eighth, as did Zoe Walsh (14) and Nat Walsh (17), before Jess Part won Severnside’s 14th silver of the weekend. Garett and Cooper came first and second in the boys 50m backstroke.
