STROUD Civic Society will host a fascinating talk on The Country Houses of Warwickshire 1660-1830 on Thursday, February 22 in Stroud.

The event is an illustrated talk by leading architectural historian Dr Geoffrey Tyack, who has written extensively on a wide range of subjects, including Victorian London, Oxford Colleges and Warwickshire Country Houses.

Warwickshire was, and to a large extent still is, a county of prosperous country estates with some very beautiful and interesting houses at their heart.

The talk will trace the history of country house building in Warwickshire, looking not only at architectural style but the people who built and lived in these houses.

Dr Tyack will also act as guide for the Stroud Civic Society’s planned summer outing to to visit Honington Hall, Alscot Park and Ettington Park.
