GLOUCESTERSHIRE batsman Chris Dent handed out trophies at the Gloucestershire County Cricket League’s (GCCL) annual presentation evening.

Clubs and players from the GCCL’s seven divisions were honoured at a ceremony at Cheltenham Civil Service CC.

The Division 7 bowling gong went to Cirencester 2nd XI’s 17-year-old leg spinner Finley Thompson. Elsewhere, Bob Lamble, Cirencester 2nd XI captain picked up the Division 7 league champions accolade for his side.

Jeremy Westwood was the biggest individual winner, scooping a remarkable hat trick in taking home the batting, bowling and fielding awards for Division 4. Haresfield Gladiator’s Ali Smith was the only other multiple award winner, picking up the Division 5 batting and fielding prizes.

A number of clubs took home several pieces of silverware. These included Cheltenham, whose second 2XI received the runners-up and fair play awards for Division 1 while their 3rd XI were champions of Division 6.

Bourton Vale 2nd XI won the best pitch and fair play awards in Division 6, Thornbury did the same double in Division 2 and Hawkesbury Upton won Division 4 while also being named best pitch. Kingsholm’s Matt Cayless was there to receive their trophy for winning Division 1.

Prior to the prize giving, guests enjoyed a three-course meal before listening to Chris Dent give an insight into Gloucestershire’s pre-season, his hopes for the 2018 season and a host of other cricket-related topics
