A CRUCIAL Stroud store could soon be occupied, and speculation is growing as to what the business might be.

The old Millets building is a prime retail space on the corner of Kendrick Street and Stroud High Street.

Stroud News and Journal:

Millets closed in 2013, and aside from pop-up shops and exhibitions the unit has remained empty since then

Although the building offers 1,200 sq ft of retail space, and an additional large basement area, the unit has remained empty since Millets, the outdoor clothing company, closed over four years ago.

However, recent signs in the window of the store indicate that the building may soon be occupied, and speculation is rife as to what business might take up such a prominent position in the town.

Stroud News and Journal:

Speculation is rife about who will be taking over the new store

Property consultant Andrew Watton, who is managing the sale of the property, has confirmed that the property is 'under offer', although the agremment is yet to be finalised.

"I understand that there has been a huge amount of speculation about the building," Andrew said.

"But until the final paperwork is signed I really can't confirm anything, except that I think the town really will be pleased with the new addition to Stroud."

Pressed to comment on the speculation and rumours surrounding the premises, he continued: "I love the fact that people are so interested in what's going to happen in our town, it really does show what Stroud's all about - community.

"As soon as I am able to let everyone know the good news I will let the SNJ know," he promised.

The SNJ has put together a short poll which includes all of the different types of businesses that have been rumoured to be taking over the building, which would you prefer?
