Another week, another break in to report in the paper.
Practically every day the SNJ receives a call from a member of the public, or a small business in the area, to say that they’ve been broken into.
Our reporters are told about businesses having to be closed while repairs are made to the buildings, of lost income, and tight margins.
Each time we hear stories of rising frustrations within the community or worse, fears for safety.
Police are adamant that they’re doing everything they can, and businesses are taking relevant precautions to ensure that their premises are safe - so what more can be done?
Surely someone must know something?
If not details of a break-in, or attempted burglary, then maybe because someone has been offering around goods that are too good to be true.
Because the old adage ‘if it seems to good to be true, then it probably is’ does hold water.
And worse still if it seems to good to be true you’re probably buying stolen goods.
