A WITNESS has described his disgust after a motorist failed to stop at the scene of a serious accident near Cirencester.

Mark Watkins was the first on the scene of the horrific accident which left the driver unconscious near Coates on Saturday evening.

Minutes before Mark had watched in horror as the Mazda MX5 hit a tree with force and landed on the other side of the road.

When he approached the car the driver was unconscious and bleeding, and the passenger groaning in pain.

Mark was the only person on the scene apart from the two involved in the accident.

He rang the emergency services and was informed to stay on the line to monitor the occupants' condition.

Soon after the accident took place, whilst Mark was on the phone to the ambulance service, an open top metallic Porsche driven by a male with grey hair, thought to be in his 50's with a female passenger approached.

As the road was partially blocked, Mark attempted to slow down the driver in order to warn them of the debris on the road, and ask for their help.

A wheel, which had been ripped from the Mazda during the accident, was strewn across the road and fluids were leaking from the car.

The driver of the Porsche ignored Mark's attempts to flag him down and purposefully swerved through the debris.

Cotswold Police have confirmed that the driver of the Mazda suffered whiplash type injuries and was taken to Gloucester Royal Hospital as a precaution.
