A 19 year-old from Stroud wants to get people talking about prostate cancer - and, if she can, prove fundraising is just as much for the young as it is for the old.

Elle Tripp will be hosting a coffee morning to raise money for Prostate Cancer Research UK at Rush Skatepark on May 21.

Aside from roasted beans and frothed milk, there’ll be a raffle and cakes on sale, courtesy of Nom Nom in Briscombe and the Lavender Bakehouse in Chalford.

Her venue choice is intentional - she’s specifically interested in raising awareness of the disease amongst people her age.

She thinks young people can find it hard to talk about health, particularly boys.

But, she stresses, the morning is “open to all” who just want a chat, whether they’ve been directly impacted by the disease or just want more information.

Elle credits her year working as an apprentice at hospice Longfield for motivating her to raise money and awareness.

“Working there showed me just what donations can achieve,” she says.

And Elle has clearly been bitten by the charity bug - after a stint travelling, she plans to raise money by climbing Snowdon later in the year.

Grab a coffee with Elle on May 21 from 9.30am to 1pm at Rush Skatepark.
