A second hand bookshop is celebrating two years of raising money for Stroud’s canals.

The managers of the Cotswold Canals Trust’s Book Shop in Brimscombe will gather with their team of 24 volunteers at Ebley for boat trips and cake on Sunday April 22.

The shop, one of the largest in the Stroud area, carries a wide range of preloved books as well as DVDs, jigsaws, maps and vinyl records.

Over the past two years all proceeds from the shop have gone to the Trust.

Anna Watts, a CCT member who runs the store with husband Alan, explains they had been “haphazardly selling second-hand books for five years” before they set up shop.

She says the money they’ve raised will “benefit the whole of Stroud” - by preserving the area’s canals for not just boaters but cyclists and walkers too.
