PEOPLE from Stroud and surrounding areas are being invited to join a nationwide Swimathon to raise money for two charitys.

Everyone Active, operators of Stratford Park Leisure Centre in Stroud, are taking part in the world's biggest charity swim to raise money for Cancer Research and Marie Curie.

Everyone Active is encouraging people to dive into fundraising by making a splash in their pools to complete the challenge.

Over the last 31 years, more than half a million people across the UK have taken part in the world’s biggest charity swim event, which has raised over £48,000,000.

New for 2018, participants have the option of swimming 400m.

The distance is perfect for beginners or for those who haven’t swum in a while but still want to do their bit for charity.

There is also the option of swimming 1,500 metres, 2,500 metres or 5,000 metres as an individual or 1,500 metres or 5,000 metres as part of a team.

It is a great opportunity for swimmers of all ages and abilities to get involved.

Jacqui Tillman, group swim manager at Everyone Active, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the annual Swimathon once again.

"Swimming is a fantastic way to improve your health and wellbeing and is accessible for all ages and abilities.

“The Swimathon offers a challenge for every level of swimmer and is a great way to support Cancer Research and Marie Curie.

"We look forward to welcoming swimmers from the local community to our swimming pools to raise money and awareness for these charities while getting active.”

The Swimathon will take place from Friday April 27 to Sunday April 29.
