Vulnerable adults in Stroud will be tucking in to a Jamaican banquet this Saturday.

Pop up food outlet Jamaica Inn Kitchen is joining forces with local charity Marah to provide a free meal with a Caribbean flavour to the homeless on April 28 at Stroud Baptist Church.

Funding for the food comes from Jamaica Inn Kitchen’s pay it forward scheme, which has allowed the pop up’s customers to also donate a hot meal when they buy for themselves.

The scheme ended up raising £680.52.

Derrick McLean of Jamaica Inn Kitchen says he is “hoping to raise awareness and to make a little bit of difference to the sad situation regarding homelessness today.”

“This seemed a perfect way to try to help and as always the Stroud community have been fully supportive in contributing to this cause,” he said.

Marah runs drop in sessions every week for the homeless and other vulnerable adults in Stroud where they can get a hot meal and advice.

It’s currently looking for 100 donors to pay £3 a month - enough for one meal.
