The upper crust of Stonehouse’s sourdough society will soon have a new shop on Stroud's Cornhill.

Internationally recognised Salt Bakehouse will be supplying our town with its award-winning bread, sandwiches and toasties from next Friday onwards - just in time for the bakery's two year birthday.

And if you can’t wait till then, the team are running a pop up store tomorrow.

Classic staples to go on offer include bread made from saltwater flour or sourdough.

But Dom Salter, Salt’s baker-in-chief, is also a renowned sandwich designer.

He’s a judge at this year’s Sammies, bakingdom’s answer to the Oscars (though less red more bread carpet).

So sought after is his expertise that he ended up working in South Korean bread lab for “research and development” purposes.

On Salt’s new shop, Dom said: "We wanted to provide people from across the area with one place where they could buy our loaves and cakes, so that they can pop in whenever they're in Stroud.

“And it's also a great opportunity for me to share another passion of mine - sandwich making”

But even though it’s got a new shop, Salt will still have stalls at Stroud and Nailsworth farmers markets.
