FOREST Green Rovers have banned seven fans following a series of recent incidents.

Several fans invaded the pitch at Whaddon Road during Forest Green's 1-0 win 'El Glosico' victory against Cheltenham Town last month.

Fights also broke out in the town centre in Cheltenham while the club confirmed some fans were also bad following the Chesterfield fixture also.

Rovers have sent out letters to the individuals concerned who will be banned with immediate effect from FGR home games while police investigations are ongoing.

A club statement said: "The club take a stand in relation to fan behaviour at our games, with pitch incursions and the use of pyrotechnics being criminal offences in accordance with the Football (offences) Act 1991 and a breach of ground regulations set by the EFL.

"We encourage fans to be passionate and to get behind the team, but there is a line and nobody at the club wants to ban people but we must take the appropriate action when that line is crossed,

"We will fully comply with the police while they carry out their investigations and once this meets its conclusion we will review the situation and see if any further action from the club is merited.

"We will not be making any further statement while the investigation is ongoing."
