Mitcheldean Ladies 1

Cotswold Rangers Ladies 2

IT was a momentus occassion at the GFA Headquarters as Cotswold Rangers Ladies lifted the Women's Challenge Cup after a hard-fought final versus Mitcheldean.

Rangers went behind to an early goal as Mitcheldean found their way down the left-hand side to open the scoring.

However, it wasn't long until Rangers' passing football came to fruition as Meg Ford bagged an equaliser after some fantastic build up play around the area. Amber Camm, Lucy Browning and Sophie Vincent combined well to give Ford the chance to score.

The second-half was an even affair with both teams enjoying spells of possession, but it was Rangers that found the back of the net.

Lou Fisher attempted to beat two defenders inside the area and was brought down with the ref awarding a penalty. She dusted herself off and cooly finished the penalty to give Cotwsold the lead with 20 minutes to play.

Mitcheldean threw everything at Rangers for the final 20 minutes, but the Stroud-based outfit held firm to record a famous victory and lift the GFA Women's Challenge Cup.
