The chief executive of Stroud District Council is set to retire later this year.
David Hagg, who turns 65 this month, told staff at Ebley Mill today that he plans to leave the local authority in October.
He joined Stroud District Council in 2001, having worked previously in metropolitan borough, shire district and county councils in the North East and North West of England.
“It’s very much a case of ‘business as usual’ for the council, which has very high satisfaction ratings from residents and businesses thanks to the energy, expertise and commitment of the team at Ebley Mill,” said Mr Hagg.
The search for a new Chief Executive has started and the appointment of his successor will be announced in due course.
